● “It is one of the most special moments in my career. The team is doing a great job,” said Boya at the end of the weekend.

Formula 4 Spanish Championship was at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto for the third round of the season. Mari Boya performed greatly once again. He proved that he is growing and evolving quickly as a driver when he took his first race win of the season. The consistency and pace shown are an evidence of the maturity he has been achieving since the beginning of the season.

The race weekend started on Saturday morning under changing weather conditions. After completing both free practice sessions under a heavy rain, the track was almost entirely dry by the time the first qualifying session was held. In that session, Boya managed to put his MP Motorsport fourth on the grid for Race 1, and second for Race 2.

Race 1 marked the end of the day, and Mari was able to attack precisely on the early stages and move up to the lead. Once he got there, he managed his pace and tyre wear smartly enough to stay in that position and win the race. The Spanish driver achieved a new accolade in his career as his first win in single seaters arrived.

Race 2 was the moment when the biggest disappointment of the weekend happened. While fighting for the lead of the race, Boya was involved in an incident with another driver and one of his rear tyres got damage. After the contact, Boya had to pit to repair the damage of his car and found himself at the back of the pack, without any chance to score points.

The weekend finished after Race 3, in which Boya was able to display a competitive pace and a smart driving that allowed him to stay fighting on top. He did not make any mistake and his consistency and management of the situation were rewarded with another podium as he finished second. Boya has now finished six Formula 4 races on the podium.

“I’m very happy with the job done this weekend. Winning my first race in Formula 4 is one of the most special moments in my career. The team is doing a great job to keep us at the top positions. This round in Jerez has given me more experience on this series and a lot of motivation ahead of the next round in Valencia,” said Boya after the round came to an end.
