● Paul Ricard Circuit will host two testing days for young drivers looking to race in the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

● After closing his Formula 4 stage, Mari Boya goes one step further and will test the new category with R-Ace GP.

● “I have a unique opportunity in my career. This is a very important step and I’m looking forward to drive the car, to learn and to start getting ready for 2021”, were Boya’s words.

It has been less than a month since the Formula 4 Spanish Championship season reached its end, but Mari Boya is already focused in 2021 and is starting to get ready for it. The Spanish driver will be at the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, organised by Renault Sport and scheduled in December 8 and 9 at Paul Ricard Circuit, in France.

On these two testing days, Boya will have the opportunity to lap and earn experience with the Tatuus T318 that is used by the series. Alongside him there will be other young drivers coming from different Formula 4 championships. All of the participants will be looking for a chance to step up to the championship.

Formula Regional is a category created by the FIA in 2019 and conceived as the natural step for a driver coming up from Formula 4. On the last two years, Formula Renault Eurocup implemented the technical regulations of Formula Regional. Now, both championships will merge ahead of 2021, thus creating the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Besides of the already mentioned Tatuus chassis, the car is powered by an Alpine 1,8 L turbocharged engine with 270 horsepower. Boya will have to adapt to a faster, heavier and more powerful car than the F4 he raced with this year. There will also be new tyres he will have to understand and manage as the championship is supplied by Pirelli tyres.

The Spanish driver, however, has already done his first laps on a private test held at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. Throughout his career, Boya has always shown that he is capable to adapt to new situations, new categories and to understand new situations to be fast since the beginning. His mature driving style and his effort will be the key factors to keep obtaining good results.

Boya will take part in this test as he is looking to secure his participation on the 2021 season. Besides these two testing days in Paul Ricard, the Catalan driver will face an extensive pre-season programme during the upcoming months in order to be ready when the racing begins. He will be testing in Paul Ricard with R-Ace GP, a French team with vast experience in Formula Renault and multiple championships won.

It is great that Renault Sport has invited us to take part in these testing days. I have a unique opportunity in my career. This is a very important step and I’m looking forward to driving the car, to learn and to start getting ready for 2021. I would like to thank everyone who is supporting me and has made this possible. I will give my 100% in every lap!”, were Boya’s words.”, fueron las palabras de Boya.
