• The Spanish driver finishes Round 6 of Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine with no points despite a good outing in Spa-Francorchamps.

• Race 1 was his first one on the series held under rain conditions.

• Boya: “We were close to score points and be where we wanted not. It was not a bad weekend, but we need to find more pace to get back on top”.

Round 6 of Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine did not provide Mari Boya with the expected results. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver did not score points, but he finished close to the Top 10 in both qualifying sessions and races. Boya shown the pace and consistency that have marked his season, but did not obtain the reward he sought.

An issue with his car left him with unable to do more than a few installation laps in Free Practice 1, losing a substantial amount of track time, vital to adapt to a new track for Boya. Luckily, the driver could complete the second session with no further problems.

On Saturday, Boya shown a similar performance in both qualifying sessions. The first one, held under rainy conditions, allowed him to secure 12th positions on the grid for Race 2; while on the second one, held on the dry, was 13th, where he would start Race 1 from.

Race 1 took place on Saturday evening. Rain started falling immediately before the start and all drivers had to change their tyres quickly before the start. Boya held his position throughout the race. The conditions got harder as the race went by and incidents happened frequently. Boya, however, did no mistake, but had to settle for eleventh place, just one position behind the points.

On the final race, held on Sunday, Boya got caught up in a big group fight and lost positions and time on the first lap. When the situation stabilized, he started making up positions. He reached 13th position by making some outstanding moves.

Boya leaves Spa with no points. However, the VAR driver takes with him a very useful learning he earns after gaining experience in one of the best racks in the World and completing his first wet sessions in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Boya: “We were close to score points and be where we wanted not. It was not a bad weekend, but we need to find more pace to get back on top. I keep the experience gained and the learning, aware that we have what we need to be there. Thanks to the team, my sponsors and my family for their fantastic support and work”.

After the cancellation of the Nürburgring round, the next Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be held in seven weeks if there are no further changes on the schedule. Red Bull Ring, in Austria, will host the championship on September 11-12.
